Though we carry full size charts aboard Little Cruiser, we often find that these aids are just too bulky to deal with while underway. Therefore, to make navigating easier we make smaller copies of only the most critical information we need. We've found that the handiest size is around 4 1/2" x 5 1/2", though you could easily make them larger. To make the Micro-charts really weather resistant and compact, we put two charts back to back and then we seal them against moisture using self adhesive laminating sheets which are available at office supply stores like STAPLES and OFFICE DEPOT. If you look at the picture below you will see what our micro-chart looks like before lamination. In this case one side is of our departure point in Florida at Angelfish Creek, while the other one shows the entrance into Bimini. If your had a lot of these charts, you could put them all together in a sort of book using a ring through one corner.
